Get Trained to Write Culturally Responsive Bariatric Evaluations and Expand Your Practice

This recorded advanced training refines bariatric psychosocial evaluations to be culturally responsive. Designed for clinicians who already write bariatric reports, it focuses on cultural formulation, bias-aware and weight-neutral language, and objective documentation. You will review when to refer out, how to work effectively with interpreters, and how culture shapes care, including respectful discussion of food, family, and faith in communities of people of color (POC), to align communication with patients, surgical teams, and insurers.

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Name at least three cultural factors that can affect a bariatric evaluation (e.g., food traditions, family roles, faith, language/authority).

  • Apply a cultural lens to 2 case vignettes by stating the factor(s) and how they change the plan.

  • Rewrite two report lines into weight-neutral, fact-based wording.

  • Create a 6-step interpreter plan (pre-brief, in-session flow, accuracy check, roles, post-debrief, documentation).

  • Choose and document the next step in 2 scenarios (proceed, pause, or refer out) with a 1–2 sentence reason.

Receive a bonus coursework workbook as a part of this course.

The program is designed to provide you with the knowledge, structure, and confidence to expand your practice with writing culturally responsive bariatric evaluations.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with extensive experience conducting complex, culturally responsive evaluations. Drawing on 150+ evaluations, I bring clear, objective, well-structured writing, strong cultural formulation, and effective interpreter collaboration—skills I now apply to bariatric psychosocial evaluations.

My focus is weight-neutral, bias-aware documentation, ethical role clarity, and practical coordination with surgical programs and insurers. Through this advanced training, I help clinicians make bariatric reports culturally sound, defensible, and actionable.
